Summits For Kids
Why We Climb
The idea of overcoming obstacles, trials and tribulations to reach the top is in perfect keeping with helping those in
need and achieving something great through teamwork.  We are a tightly knit climbing team who are passionate
about helping, but especially about helping children.  As a team we collectively 3 kids of our own for whom we all
would climb any mountain.  If we can pursue our other passion, climbing, to raise awareness for kids in need and
help them to a better life or opportunity, SHOW US THE TRAILHEAD!

What Will My Donation Do?
We are currently waiting for our approval for tax-exempt 501(c)3 (non-profit) status, so regrettably, currently your
donations are NOT tax-deductible and will be given of the goodness of your hearts.  We hope to have our approval
soon, and donations to Summits For Kids will be 100% Tax Deductible.  We have given a lot of our own time and
money to get this organization started, and hope that charitable folks out there will join us in helping kids in need
despite this fact.  Once we are approved as a non-profit, all donations thereafter will be deductible.  Here are some
facts about what your donations will accomplish:

Donations will go to causes and individuals that benefit children DIRECTLY.
The specific cause at any given time for each climb will be updated on our site
We pledge to work to help children in circumstances that were beyond their own control.
Ultimately we will work directly with children to expose them to outdoor activities & participate in a passion
that keeps them from a life of drugs or other destructive lifestyles.
Presently, our only way to legally raise money is to act as a
conduit for resources, from generous Americans directly to a
child or children in need.   We have adopted individual causes,
and climbed mountains and significant landmarks in order to
raise awareness for a situation and gather donations to transfer
to those children.

Once our 501(c)(3) status has been approved, we are very excited
to announce a program that will allow those who have never
climbed a mountain before, an opportunity experience a summit
of their choosing in exchange for donations or fundraising of a
predetermined amount.  We are also ecstatic to begin working on
an "after-school" program that will enable us to work with
youngsters of all ages in a gym and in the outdoors.
Josh, Darren & Logan, providing much needed
gear & support.  There aren't better in the
business.
Robert & Matt, phenomenally supportive.  Our
place to train, and the best gym in town.
Parents, Stoneworks is KID FRIENDLY and
does birthday parties!
Heather, Jaime & Nancy.  Seriously the BEST
in Portland.  They heal the aches, but provide
therapy in so many other ways.  Thanks, gals.

Summits For Kids began as an idea in 2006 when Jeremy and
Liesl first decided to use our passion for climbing to try to help
raise awareness for, and raise money for, a cause that we were
passionate about.  It became clear, shortly after, when we were
contacted about a repeat performance, that this calling could help
us have an impact.

We welcome you to sign up for our free, secure weekly newsletter
and continue to check in.  We do not sell our mailing lists.  Please
take a look at our Facebook page as well, and grow with us as we
press forward to make a difference.

organization looking for a good team-building activity?  We have three
climbs already scheduled for 20

interested in a summit experience.  Experience the victory and growth
of reaching the top, and the joy of helping children in the process.
You can

will be professionally guided.  All spots include necessary support,
training and accomodations, as well as a minimum of at least one
dinner out at a local restaurant.
What's Upcoming for SFK . . . and you.
For a direct contribution of a pre-determined amount, you will enjoy the
coaching and training of a positive and enthusiastic team, as well as the
ease and security of the details being planned for you.  The amounts can
be directly donated by you, personally, or fund raised by you to
accumulate the total.  Those who secure the first spaces available will
receive the benefit of a reduced commitment level.  Please
contact us if
you are interested, and continue to check into the site for details on
informational meetings, to be scheduled early in 20
10!

We are also working to develop what we are calling our P.E.A.K. program which will work individually
with kids and climbing as a sport.  We are working with sponsors in the area, as well as outdoor
adventure groups to create experiences for kids that will provide beneficial skills and values in a secure
and fun way.

We are a group of climbers brought together with a mission of
helping children through our passion for climbing.  We are
presently in the final stages of our formal, legal establishment
as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Just like climbing any
mountain, it has been an uphill battle to formalize everything
we want this organization to be, but we are very excited about
the position we are putting ourselves in, to be able to help kids
in need, and to expose children and adults alike to the
incredible world of climbing.
